Taking Flight

This bench was designed in collaboration with New Avenues for Youth, DFRNTpigeon and Michel Hulsey.  New Avenues is a Portland nonprofit serving youth experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, and DFRNTpigeon is the organization’s youth-driven apparel company that offers opportunities for youth to create original artwork for a product line and receive training in design and business.  

With the help of local artist Michel Hulsey, this bench design was inspired by its PDX origins and DFRNTpigeon’s tagline – “don’t just rise, take flight,” and combines the original airport bench design with the new airport carpet to create something that celebrates the joy of flight travel!
