The Challenge
Nestled within the lively Portland Food Hall in Downtown Portland, Bar Miranda wanted to create a setting that would celebrate the city’s cultural identity while standing out in a busy, competitive environment. Their goal was to honor Portland’s quirky charm and design legacy—particularly the nostalgia surrounding the city’s iconic airport carpet—through custom, durable furnishings that could serve a high-traffic bar setting.
The Solution
PDXOriginals partnered with Bar Miranda to design and fabricate custom Chromcraft airport chair bar stools, transforming vintage seating into one-of-a-kind pieces that pay homage to Portland’s past while elevating the bar’s ambiance. Each stool retained the classic mid-century form of the original Chromcraft airport chairs but was modified for bar height and functionality. We custom-fabricated stool legs inspired by the iconic PDX airport carpet pattern, infusing a deeply local design cue that resonates with both longtime Portlanders and visitors. Upholstered with premium materials to match Bar Miranda’s interior palette, the stools combine style, comfort, and commercial-grade durability.
The Result
The final environment strikes a perfect balance between comfort, style, and functionality. The handcrafted furniture adds depth and warmth to the modern workspace, encouraging connection and collaboration.
